What is Grit?

Grit is a psychological concept defined by psychologist Angela Duckworth as a combination of perseverance of effort and consistency of interest. Duckworth introduced this concept in her book Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance (2016) and showed that grit is one of the best predictors of success - often more important than talent or IQ.

Our test uses the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S) - a standardized questionnaire containing 10 items (5 per dimension) that has been validated in numerous international studies. The test measures two key components: Perseverance of Effort - the ability to continue working despite obstacles, and Consistency of Interest - the tendency to maintain long-term focus without jumping between projects.

Research shows that people with high grit achieve better results in education, career, and personal life. However, grit is not an immutable trait - it can be deliberately developed through the right strategies and habits.

Frequently asked questions

What is Grit?

Grit is a psychological concept defined by Angela Duckworth as a combination of perseverance of effort and consistency of interest. It is the ability to pursue long-term goals despite obstacles, setbacks, and the temptation to jump to something new.

Is high grit always good?

Not necessarily. High grit is usually an advantage, but excessive perseverance can lead to persisting in unproductive situations or loss of flexibility. It is important to know when to persist and when it is wise to change direction. Healthy grit combines determination with adaptability.

Is the test scientifically validated?

Yes. The test is based on the Short Grit Scale (Grit-S) developed by Angela Duckworth and colleagues. Grit-S is one of the most widely used instruments for measuring perseverance, and its validity and reliability have been confirmed in numerous international studies.

How long does the test take?

The test contains 10 questions and most people complete it in approximately 2 minutes. For each question, you choose your level of agreement on a scale from "not like me at all" to "very much like me".

Are my results confidential?

Yes. Your results are completely confidential. They are not shared with third parties and serve only for your personal self-discovery.
