Attachment style is a deep emotional bond we form with close people. The concept was first formulated by British psychiatrist John Bowlby in the 1950s. Bowlby discovered that the quality of the bond between a child and caregiver fundamentally influences emotional development and relationship patterns throughout life.
Bowlby's work was continued by American psychologist Mary Ainsworth, who identified three basic attachment types in children based on the "Strange Situation" experiment: secure, anxious, and avoidant. Her research demonstrated that childhood attachment style predicts relationship behavior in adulthood.
Our test is based on the Bartholomew and Horowitz model (1991), which expanded the original typology into four categories of adult attachment: secure, anxious (preoccupied), dismissive (dismissive-avoidant), and fearful (fearful-avoidant). This model defines attachment types based on two independent dimensions – anxiety (fear of rejection and abandonment) and avoidance (discomfort with closeness and dependence).

Yes. Attachment style is not fixed. Through self-awareness, therapy, and positive relationship experiences, it is possible to gradually move toward a more secure attachment style. Research shows that so-called "earned security" is achievable at any age.
